Project Up-Dates
This series of photo's taken by Bruce R. shows the progress of the track expansion project on the far side of the stream. I think it clearly shows how everything in this hobby is done to BIG scale.
1- Nothing but a very low spot. The new "Bobby Timson" bridge is in the background.
2- Bruce is using discarded & broken concrete slabs to create a retaining wall. The culvert is an 18" ID pipe.
3- The retaining walls are in place and now large river rock is being used as a base for the roadbed.
4- View thru the bridge, the Kabota tractor made moving rock so much easier.
5-Now we see the retaining walls have been added beyond the culvert. The white stone is ballast
6- The white limestone ballast we use, really holds the track down very well.
7- The finished roadbed looks great. Hats off to the entire crew!
8- This shot shows how much fill was needed to bridge the low area.
Here's Pete bringing another load of gravel over the newly built "Don Pierson" bridge.
A shot of the newly completed "Bobby Timson" bridge. Pete built both bridges single handedly in place. A third bridge, the "Bruce Raykiewicz" bridge, will be started soon.
